Bear Safety

Human/Bear Conflict

Public Safety

While this research does not pose any particular risk to the public, it is always important to stay BearSmart. When enjoying the outdoors, carry bear spray, make noise, and stay alert.

Human/bear interacts and conflicts are increasing as people spend more time accessing bear country.

Organizations such as WildSafe BC aim to understand and address these conflicts, in order to decrease the number of incidents that occur and reduce the number of bears that lose their lives.

Visit the WildSafe website for more information about staying safe in bear country and what to do if you encounter a bear.
